Update from the Steering Group – Newton Longville Village Plan

First of all a very Happy New Year to everyone

We enjoyed a good turnout at our open event on 11 December 2010; and extend thanks to all those who took time out of a busy December to drop in over the course of the day.

As a result of your input we are working on a number of strands and ideas with a view to bringing together various people from across the village who are involved in groups of one kind or another, in order that we may all benefit from pooling resources.  Our aim is for everyone to have the opportunity to discuss options on delivering the many projects emerging from the questionnaire output and the ideas you have raised from our event on 11/12.

Now – there are clear front-runners we want to work on and we welcome involvement from anyone with the time and enthusiasm to help.  So, if you have a passion for – say, how we proceed with the traffic issues through our village; keeping those developers at bay; enhancing our community life, or, making our village more attractive to the eye, ( a few of many ideas) please make contact – see bottom of page.

The Steering Group currently meets every fortnight in a fairly informal capacity to progress such plans. Next steps for us involve creating a number of project sub groups to focus on issues such as those mentioned.

Thanks to everyone who filled in a skills survey at the open day and offered help or just asked to be kept informed.  We will be keeping in touch with you all to communicate progress and to seek your help where you’ve offered it

Forthcoming Youth Event

We have managed to obtain funding for a Youth Event to be held at Longueville Hall on Sunday the 27th March 2011.

The event is planned for the afternoon and should be great fun.

This event will be for our young people (11>19yrs) and will include a sports cage, with Sumo wrestling suits, Games consoles, with either: - Wii, and PS3 or Xbox plus a DJ & sound system.

We will be contacting the various youth groups in the village, so they can be involved with the planning and running of the event.

If you run or are involved in a youth group and we have not contacted you yet and you feel we may have missed you, please get in touch with any member of the NLVP Steering Group or send an e-mail to nlvp2010@ googlemail.com

We are keen to extend our work and increase our cooperation with individuals and groups within the village.  Our broad aims being:

To ensure that the village plan defines the matters that is of greatest importance to villagers.

That we all pull together and utilise the community led plan making process to achieve tangible benefits for our village.
